The Riddler began life in 2017. She is a T28 – 84BHP Ex-FPS delivery panel van that we bought in Feb 2019. This was our first dub and as with most ‘first-timers’, this project came with its challenges.
The first job was to remove all the original internal panels. Next up was to install windows, against the general consensus, we opted for clear glass windows to help create a light, roomy environment when chilling inside the van rather than the tinted windows. We moved on to the sound deadening, insulating, followed by the Austops pop-top fitting. The Sportline body kit was acquired and the decision was made to go with a Nardo grey and orange combination to add to the factory peppermint green.
We are a family of 5 and became aware of the front double being uncomfortable, so rather than a 3/4 bed, we opted to remove the front double go with a full-width RNR. Ford Galaxy swivel seats replaced the factory seats. He then went to have the electrics, furniture, seats trimmed and curtains and Stance+ Street coilovers fitted.
With the van ready we were able to get out in 2019 and visit a couple of festivals and do some camping. It was during these outings the cracks from the poor conversion works started to show.
Problems with the furniture, electrics and suspension needed resolving. This put the project back 10 months as finding suitable available professionals to complete proved difficult, and even more so as COVID-19 reared its ugly head in March. Luckily a reputable EVO specialist was able to carry out the final parts of the conversion in May and finish things again – this time properly.
So here we are, it’s June 2020, the van is done and we are just waiting for the ‘green’ light to hit the road again.
