I bought it ten years ago in excellent and original condition, low mileage, just two previous owners, original engine and above all with zero rust. I’ve spent eight years turning it into a capable and reliable overland rig with the focus on reliability and avoiding fancy stuff. I first refurbished the whole suspension with PU bushes, Fox monotube shocks, quality bearings and ball joints, and all parts powder coated. Then I swap the 1.6 JX engine for a 1.9 TDI AHU which is one off the most reliable and ubiquitous engines in Europe (not so much in the Américas)
Then came the 16” rims, winch, custom racks, recovery gear etc… We’ve travelled around Europe and Morocco several times. And in Jan 2019 we shipped it to Montevideo and toured Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil, Perú, Ecuador and Colombia.
Right now stuck in Colombia waiting to hit the road again (May 2020).
